Cookie and Similar Technologies Notice

This Notice explains how Yachtara uses cookies, local storage, application storage, caches and similar technologies on yachtara.com, app.yachtara.ai and the Yachtara applications.

1. Current position

Yachtara does not currently use advertising cookies, behavioural tracking pixels or optional third-party analytics. The website and application use only technologies needed to provide requested functions, keep an account signed in, remember choices, secure the Service and support offline operation.

Because no optional cookies are currently activated, Yachtara does not need to ask visitors to accept analytics or advertising cookies. This changes if optional technology is introduced.

2. What these technologies are

  • Cookies are small text records stored by a browser and sent with later requests to the same service.
  • Local storage and IndexedDB let a web application keep settings, authentication state and offline information on the device.
  • Application storage such as SharedPreferences or Hive performs similar functions in a mobile or desktop application.
  • Service-worker and file caches store application resources or selected offline data so that parts of the Service can work efficiently or without a continuous connection.
  • Pixels and SDKs can measure or track activity. Yachtara does not currently use advertising, analytics or crash-reporting pixels or SDKs.

3. Strictly necessary uses

Yachtara may use the following necessary categories:

Authentication and security

Authentication tokens, session state, anti-abuse information and related storage keep users signed in, protect accounts and authorise requests. Duration varies from the browser session to the permitted sign-in period. Signing out or deleting browser data normally removes local copies, although server-side security records may remain under the Privacy Notice.

User choices

Local storage may remember necessary settings and a cookie choice. The current consent-choice key is yachtara-cookie-consent. It should expire or be renewed after no more than six months, or earlier if the available choices change.

Application and offline storage

The Service uses local application storage and caches for settings, selected vessel context, offline packages and device-only features. Anchor-watch position and alarm state are stored locally and are not sent to the Yachtara backend.

Service operation

Service workers, cached application files and technical storage help load the application, remove stale versions and provide offline-ready functions.

These technologies are necessary to provide a service the user expressly requests. They are not used for unrelated marketing.

4. Third-party services

Stripe

When a user chooses to purchase or manage a subscription, the user is redirected to Stripe-hosted checkout or customer-portal pages. Stripe may use cookies and similar technology under its own notices. Yachtara does not control storage set on stripe.com.

Maps

The application currently requests map tiles from Esri / ArcGIS Online and, in some screens, the OpenStreetMap Foundation tile server. These requests disclose the user's IP address and requested tile or map area to the provider. They are network requests rather than Yachtara advertising cookies, but they are disclosed in the Privacy Notice because they can involve personal data.

Apple and Google

Apple App Store and Google Play may use their own technologies when a user visits a store, downloads the app or uses store services. Their notices apply to their independent processing.

Social-media links and embedded media

Ordinary links to a social-media site do not cause Yachtara to place the social platform's cookies before the user clicks. Yachtara should not load social plugins, tracking pixels or video embeds before the required consent. If a YouTube video is embedded, it should use a click-to-load design and the privacy-enhanced domain where available.

5. Optional technology introduced later

Before activating analytics, advertising, personalisation or other non-essential technology, Yachtara will:

  • update this Notice with the provider, purpose, data and duration;
  • prevent the technology from loading before valid consent where consent is required;
  • provide an equally visible Accept optional cookies and Necessary only choice;
  • allow granular choices where different purposes exist;
  • avoid pre-ticked boxes and consent-by-scrolling;
  • make withdrawal as easy as acceptance; and
  • retain a proportionate record of the choice.

Rejecting optional technology will not block core access unless that technology is genuinely necessary for a specifically requested feature.

6. Managing storage

Users can remove website cookies and local storage through browser settings. Mobile and desktop operating systems provide controls to clear application data or uninstall the application. Clearing necessary storage may sign the user out, remove offline packages, reset preferences or stop local features.

An in-product Cookie settings or Privacy choices control will be provided if optional technologies are introduced.
